Breast Lift

CONVENIENTLY LOCATED TO SERVE BATON ROUGE AND PRAIRIEVILLE

While breast size is often seen as the most important aspect of the appearance of the breasts, the shape of the breasts is equally important. Over time, and sometimes due to factors like pregnancy, the breast tissues can begin to sag. This gives the breasts a flat and unattractive appearance that can make some women feel self-conscious.

If you are unhappy with the shape and overall appearance of your breasts, a breast lift may be perfect for you. The procedure is designed to enhance the contours of the breasts and adjust the tissues to give the breasts a rounder and perkier appearance.

At Bourgeois Freel Plastic Surgery in Baton Rouge, our board-certified plastic surgeons have been able to help countless women achieve their aesthetic goals through plastic surgery.

What Is a Breast Lift?

A breast lift, or mastopexy, involves raising the breasts and adjusting the tissues to give the breasts enhanced perkiness and to resolve breast sag. This is accomplished by removing excess skin and minor fatty tissue to reshape and restore a more youthful, uplifted appearance.

In order to ensure that the results provided look as natural and attractive as possible, the procedure also repositions the areolae on the chest wall. This helps to create improved breast symmetry.

Over time, the effects of normal aging, pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight fluctuations, and genetics all contribute to breast sagging and loss of fullness. Breast lift surgery is an ideal option for women seeking to reverse these effects and renew the appearance of their breasts. If a more enhanced appearance is desired, this procedure can be combined with breast implants.

It is recommended that you wait until after you are done having children before undergoing a breast lift. This is because pregnancy and breastfeeding can jeopardize the results of your breast lift, which may require additional surgery to correct. You should also wait until you have reached an ideal weight that you can maintain.

TESTIMONIAL

“Dr. Freel and his staff are AMAZING! They made me feel completely comfortable and excited about my surgery. I had a mommy makeover which consisted of a breast lift and a tummy tuck. He was very informative throughout the entire process, and went above and beyond when it came to answering questions from a very nervous mom! As for my results, OMG!! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!”

Your Initial Breast Lift Consultation

During your initial consultation for a breast lift, you will meet with one of our board-certified plastic surgeons to discuss your goals and expectations. Your surgeon will provide you with a detailed explanation of the mastopexy procedure, answer your questions, and determine a surgical plan of care based on your expected outcome. After performing an exam and reviewing pertinent health history, your surgeon may order lab work, a mammogram, and other pre-operative tests as deemed necessary. Lastly, you will meet with a surgery coordinator to discuss fees, and surgery scheduling options, and make a pre-operative appointment to meet with the nurse for final preparation prior to surgery.

What to Expect During Surgery

Your breast lift will be performed in our AAAASF accredited office surgical suite with a qualified anesthesia provider. Operative time in most cases is approximately 1-2 hours. Most breast lift procedures are performed on an outpatient basis, and patients are discharged home the same day. You will need to have a friend or family member drive you home after your procedure, so make sure to plan accordingly ahead of time.

Recovering from your Breast Lift

Your nurse will provide you with detailed post-operative instructions at your pre-operative visit and will review them again prior to your discharge home. Recovery time for breast lift surgery is about two weeks, and most patients take pain medication for a few days. Patients can typically return to work within 1-2 weeks, but heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling should be avoided for the first four weeks following your surgery.

It will be necessary to wear the provided post-surgical support bra without underwire while healing from the breast lift procedure. This will help to protect the temporarily weakened tissues.
